Is there an author who you would have liked to have heard read their own books on an audiobook from the past, before this technology existed?
Yeah, yeah. I’d like to have, um… I mean, all those Roman authors: *unclear* and Cicero and Ovid and Seneca. They’re all so brilliant, you know. I used to think Roman Latin it’s called at school. I didn’t get on well with Latin, but now I read translations of them and they’re wonderfully up-to-date and modern. And I’d love to hear, you know, how they read. How did Ovid speak? *With low, smooth voice:* “Oooh, you know, *unclear.*” *With nasally voice:* Or did he have a funny voice like that? “*Unclear*.” Oh, shut up, Ovid. Shut up, Ovid. Cicero: “Oh, I’ve got a lovely house in Rome. We don’t go there very often because we live up off the Appian Way. Have you ever done it – the Appian Way? It’s quite exciting, really.
